BMW has not yet given a final date when the electric version of the M3 will arrive on the market

  • The quad-motor prototype looks like a cross between a six online and a reaction engine.
  • BMW M is currently developing the driving dynamics of the new controversial model.
  • The engineers started the EV project by building an electric M2 with 1,000 hp.

BMW has provided the world its first opportunity to hear the long-awaited all-electrical M3 which is currently in development. The new model will be sold alongside the M3 powered by combustion and will be based on the Neue Klasse platform of the automaker.

This clip is part of the BMW M series detailing the development of its first EV. The CEO of M, Franciscus Van Meel, says that the current BMW M3 EV prototype was generated from an M2 M2 electric base model that BMW began to experiment. He says that the M2 EV prototype was fun to drive in a straight line, but did not have the controllable that a car needs me. This is where this I4 -based prototype comes into play.

The video shows that the prototype tested on Frozen is lacking to refine its driving dynamics. The most intriguing part arrives in the last seconds when the car is taken to a test site, and the driver pinpoints the accelerator, giving us a first taste of his sound. The electric M3 seems very different from any other high performance EV so far.

During the cruise, it looks almost like a normal ice cream, and as the driver accelerates, he becomes much stronger and begins to sing. It is difficult to describe the sound, but it is a bit like a cross between a combustion engine, a jet and an electric motor. We are not the biggest fans of some of the synthetic sounds produced by certain electric vehicles on the market, but the BMW solution seems a little more authentic and should give the M3 EV an additional personality.

The technical details on the production model remain limited, but it will probably have four electric motors, providing it with advanced torque vectorization technology. It is also possible that BMW composed of the back power of 1,000 horsepower of early prototypes at around the 700 hp brand. If this is the case, the car would always have a healthy advantage on the current M3 CS lighthouse with 543 hp.
