  • Cleaning crews are left to cope with potentially dangerous biohazards.
  • Workers with information are encouraged to contact Stellantis.
  • Stellantis says he is committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment.

The managers of the Kokomo engines factory in Stellantis in Indiana are dealing with an unexpected and deeply unpleasant work crisis, because someone has coated excrement on the bathroom walls and leaving lots on the ground. No, it’s not a bizarre marketing stroke or the intrigue of a low -budget reality TV show. It is a very real (and very disgusting) situation which takes place in the establishment which produces engines for the Jeep Wrangler, the Compass and the Grand Cherokee.

In a letter addressed to all the employees of the factory earlier this week who disclosed on social networks, the director of the division of the well-being, health and safety of Stellantis, R. Tyler Adams, A Describe the horrible scenes that cleaning teams must face. Not only were the excrement distributed on the walls and left on the floor, but it was also spread over the handicap handlebars, door locks and sink handles.

In the letter, Adams says that the cleaning teams are faced with “potentially dangerous biohazards which are completely avoidable”, and that on February 3, they were invited to no longer clean any of the poops they find in the Bathrooms. Instead, “each bathroom found in this grotesque state will be immediately locked and removed from service to further order.”

“There will be people who will have complaints and concerns about this process, but we will no longer ask our SBM staff to clean these types of events until a detailed investigation is over,” adds the letter . “If necessary, other methods can be used to help identify the culprit.”

There is no word on what these “alternative methods” could be, but employees with information on the series bathroom vandal are invited to report it anonymously via the designated email of the company.

Stellantis answers

In a press release published in Carscoops, Stellantis confirmed that an internal investigation was underway, but also specified that, despite what the letter suggested, the bathrooms will continue to be cleaned.

“Stellantis undertakes to provide a safe and healthy work environment to its employees,” said Ann Marie, the director of media relations. “The company is currently investigating worrying incidents in its Kokomo engines factory that left the bathrooms in an unhealthy state. While the survey is underway, the factory will ensure that the bathrooms are regularly cleaned and disinfected and remain accessible to employees. Officials of these intentional acts will be held responsible. »»

For the moment, the factory’s toilets are locked in a battle between the common decency and a vandal mystery with a deeply concerning hobby. We will see if the Stellantis investigation will eliminate the culprit or if this saga will continue to adorn the workplace remains to be seen.
