- Nissan Oceania’s managing director said the new Navara will be “really a Nissan”.
- The collection will be based on the Mitsubishi triton, although with a number of changes.
- The new intermediate size truck should make its world start in 2026 or at the beginning of 2027 at the latest.
Nissan may sail in one of his most difficult corrections in recent years, but that has not put the brakes on the development of key models for its future, one of the most important being the Navara de Nouvelle generation. The intermediate size pick-up should share its scale frame platform with the Mitsubishi Triton, a predictable decision given the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance.
However, according to a high -ranking Nissan frame, the new Navara will be much more than a simple triton with a different badge.

Andrew Humberstone, managing director of Nissan Oceania, recognized that sharing the platform is inevitable, but stressed that the company brings significant changes to ensure that Navara retains its own identity. “We are going to make a lot of changes to the product to ensure that it complies with Nissan expectations,” he said Drive.com.au. “Yes, we have a relationship, but this relationship could be effectively with any supplier.”
Humberstone’s comments suggest that Nissan aims to differentiate significant differentiation, beyond the usual cosmetic adjustments that badge models often receive. This approach is similar to what Ford and Volkswagen have done with the Ranger and Amarok or what Isuzu and Mazda succeeded with the D-Max and the BT-50.

The next iteration of the Navara should adopt the rear suspension of the spring of the Mitsubishi Triton leaves, marking a change from the configuration of the coil of the previous model, which has received mixed criticism. Nissan will also ensure that his battle horse identification information remains competitive, with towing and payload capacities likely to correspond to competitors such as Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger.
The current sixth generation Mitsubishi Triton, introduced in 2023, is equipped with a 2.4 -liter turbodiesel engine producing 201 CH (150 kW / 204 PS) in its most powerful variant. This engine could make its way in the next Nissan Navara, continuing the heritage of the diesel power model
Plus: Nissan alludes to Navara Nismo for the new generation truck
Further on, an electrified variant – hybrid or rechargeable hybrid – is expected, helping the Navara to remain relevant as the regulations on emissions tighten and that competitors introduce greener alternatives.
Nissan also alluded to something a little more exciting: a high performance Nismo version. If it materializes, it could take the Ford Ranger Raptor with a more powerful V6 engine and a chassis set for better off -road capacity.
Although Nissan did not set an official start date for the new generation of Navara, he confirmed that the truck will arrive before March 2027. In the meantime, in China, the company is preparing to launch the Yuanye Z9, a pick- UP of separate intermediate size which could have little to do with the world Navara.
