- Porsche develops unique and double versions of the Cayman EV.
- The brand would have struggled to correspond to the dynamics of the ICE version.
- It seems that Porsche is inspired by the heavy design of the existing Taycan.
Porsche may have changed its strategy to include more gas models in the coming years, but it does not turn its back on electric vehicles. The development of its entirely electric 718 series of Cayman and Boxster models is underway, to the great dismay of purists who are not delighted to see their favorite sports car with electric mid-term. But if a brand knows how to make a really exciting electric sports car, it’s Porsche.
At the end of January, the first prototype of the Cayman EV was closely compared, revealing an easily identifiable design as a Porsche, but has many points of difference compared to the current Cayman. A new set of rendering offers us an excellent idea of the appearance of the finished product. Visually, it could be quite convincing.

These digital artist’s renderings Nikita Chuicko (Kelsonik) which are based on recent spying prototypes on the road show that the front of the Cayman EV could draw inspiration from both the 911 and the electric Taycan sedan. It includes a grille and air intakes similar to those of the Cayman GT4, associated with headlights reminiscent of the Taycan. The nose also appears slightly shorter than the current Cayman, but the proportions remain well balanced.

Porsche will also examine its current range of design inspiration at the back of the car. No more oval -shaped rear lights that we expect from the series of sports cars, and sitting in their place are simple horizontal LEDs. Significant changes have also been made to the rear bumper of the car and the diffuser. Look carefully, and you will also notice that the load port is directly in the center of the rear fairing, as we can see on the prototype of a few weeks ago.
The double and double engine versions of the Cayman EV should be offered to customers. There is no word on how much the car will have, but it is prudent to assume that it will surpass the current car, but perhaps not the GT4 RS flagship.
