- The factory will produce commercial trucks from the N-series series and the F series of Isuzu.
- Isuzu sold 44,000 commercial vehicles in North America throughout 2024.
- The installation is on a site of 750,000 square meters in the county of Greenville.
The Japanese manufacturer Isuzu Motors has hired $ 280 million to establish a new production installation in South Carolina. He indicates that the site will start its operations in 2027 and will finally have the capacity to produce 50,000 vehicles per year. The factory will also play an important role in reducing Isuzu exposure to generalized prices introduced by the Trump administration.
The new factory will incorporate a variable volume production system of variable model to allow it to respond to the evolution of the demand for combustion vehicles, while remaining flexible enough to include long -term electric commercial vehicles.

In addition, it will be the first Isuzu factory to have a production line that does not use conveyors or pits, improving flexibility and scalability. The company also said that it would “automate inspections to eliminate operational errors, ensure the traceability of the parts and introduce image inspections and other methods to prevent any output of defective products”.
Vehicles initially designed to be built in the factory will include models in the ISUZU N series, smaller trucks evaluated between 7.5 tonnes and 9.3 tonnes. The factory will also be responsible for the construction of trucks in series F with a gross weight of 15 tonnes.
The factory is located in the county of Greenville in South Carolina and is on a site of 750,000 square meters. It will employ more than 700 people by 2028.

Although Isuzu does not sell its consumer-oriented models like the D-Max pick-up and the MUX SUV in the United States as it does in other markets, America is still a major market for commercial division of the company. During the last financial year, it sold 44,000 commercial vehicles across North America and wishes to “extend its activities more” in the region.
President Donald Trump has not yet announced specific prices targeting Japanese vehicles imported into the United States. However, he recently ordered 25% of prices on all imports of steel and aluminum from March 12, which could have an impact on Japan. Shortly after the prices were announced, Japan asked for an exemption from new prices.
