  • The NHTSA and Honda have received reports on the viewing problems of the view of the view.
  • Honda launched its first related recall at the end of 2022 and the second in mid-2024.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Defect Bureau has opened a probe on problems related to a pair of recalls issued by Honda on potentially defective rear cameras systems on RIDGELINE 2017-2024 models. Should the owners of impacted Rigelines be worried? Let’s dive and discover.

Honda initiated for the first time a reminder of the RIDGELINE 2017-2019 models on November 23, 2022, to respond to concerns concerning the cameras of the vision of the background which could fail due to wavy tubes and bad tightening zip tight used to protect the wiring beam. Honda’s solution was to replace the harness with a new one that included ridiculed tubes and long -term bonds of longer protection ripples that have been really secure.

Quick advance until May 3, 2024, and Honda published a reminder for the RIDGELINE 2020-2024 models which also knew the camera problems of the back vision. This reminder notice indicated that the bundle of cables could break after a repeated opening and closure of the tailgate. Honda has decided to replace the harnesses with the one who could better resist wear.

On February 11, the ODI launched an engineering analysis in certain impacted models because the two fixes use the same supplier and the same materials. The NHTSA says that it has received an allegation from a bundle of cables which failed after the repairs made during the 2022 recall, while Honda says that it is aware of 14 ratio of the wiring beam after the fixes .

The ODI claims that its probe “is open to further assess the scope, the frequency and the potential consequences linked to the security of the failure of the camera’s harness from the view of the rear view”. Above all, the survey focuses only on the RIDGELINE 2017-2019 models affected by the first recall, and not the Rigelines 2020-2024 which were recalled in mid-2014. In total, 129,092 ridgelines of the 2017-2019 model years are under the microscope.
