  • SERES 5 is a compact electrical crossing of China, now available in Europe.
  • With 577 hp, the high -end model sprinte from 0 to 62 MPH in just 4.2 seconds.

Chinese car manufacturers have their eyes firmly placed on Europe, aimed at grasping market share of brands established with electric vehicles at competitive prices filled with features, despite the newly imposed import prices of the EU. One of the last pretenders of this growing battle is Seres, formerly known as SF Motors, who introduced his response to Tesla Model Y in Europe last year. We wanted to see how he divided against the competition, so we took the press car Seres 5 for a trip.

Seres 5 initially made its debut in China in 2019 under the name of SF5, a project developed with the help of Huawei. In 2023, a strongly updated version called Aito M5 launched, offering both PHEV and BEV variants. While the Chinese market Seres 5 has since adopted these upgrades, the world specification model that we drive sticks to the original design, with its distinctive curved day lights.

Seres 5 made its debut in Europe at the Munich 2023 car show and gradually deployed on the continent throughout 2024. Measuring 4710 mm (185 inches) in length, it takes competitors like VW ID.4, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia Ev6, and, of course, the Tesla model still dominant Y.

Inside, the cabin leans towards a premium territory, with a 15.6 -inch dashboard display, a fine leather pad and wooden inserts. The seats are filled with comfort characteristics, offering heating, ventilation and even a massage function.

The power supply comes from an 80 kWh battery, offering a range evaluated by WLTP up to 482 km (300 miles) per load.

In Greece, where we test it, the Seres 5 is available in a single complete garnish, at a price of € 57,500 ($ 60,400), including local EV grants. For comparison, the performance of Tesla Model Y of German and Pre-Faceft manufacturing cost € 57,990, while the next launch edition of the Model Y 2026 is at € 60,990.
