- BMW has not confirmed the release date of the 5 series, i5 and M5 refreshed, but expect 2027.
- These rendering show the sedan with lights inspired by the BMW Vision driving experience.
- Several modifications could also be made to the cabin of refreshed models, including new screens.
The BMW M5 with hybrid propulsion is already one of the most imposing performance sedans on the market. But the German brand is not based on its laurels. The work on a Lifted version is already underway, with one of the first prototypes identified on the road tests much earlier than expected.
This month, our spy photographers saw rude from the updated M5, and now we have gave up to give you a better idea of what is happening. While the current M5 certainly offers the daring and extravagant style that we expect from a M car, its front grille and its headlights have always moved slightly. The facelift can solve these problems.

The next facelift, which will probably be applied not only to the M5 but also to the entire 5-series and i5 range, is inspired by electric vehicles from BMW Neue Klasse. As these rendering shows, the new design presents headlights similar to those of the BMW Vision driving experience concept. Essentially, the headlights and the renal grille are now merged into a single coherent unit.

It is a somewhat controversial change and will not appeal to everyone, but at least it signals the end of the renal grids constantly increasing that have tormented most BMW models in recent years. This solution seems a little more elegant while referring to the brand’s past.
The lower section of the front bumper is mainly the same as the M5 Prefacelift, although the lateral air intakes adopt a slightly different shape. The changes made to the rear can be a little less complete.
These renderings by the artist Nikita Chuyko Since Kolesa Display the M5 updated with rear lights similar to the current model, but refined to include new LED lighting signatures, again inspired by the most recent BMW Neue Klasse concept.
Updated styling for the whole range of the 5 series
The M5 Lifted will not be the only model to benefit from these updates. The rest of the range of 5 series, including the i5, will also receive the same style changes. Although we have not caught the M5 tests in prototype form, the standard models in series 5 will probably have a similar grille with unique style details. Another digital rendering of Sugardesign Offers an interpretation of the invoiced model, although their conception seems to be more leaning over what we expect to see on the i5, rather than on the 5th.

A new IDRIVE system and more technology inside
Beyond the exterior looks updated, it is very likely that the M5 Lift. This new system removes the traditional IDrive controller, replacing it with a large pillar with pillar extending to the dashboard. The infotainment display will also include a form of diamond, adding a futuristic touch to the cabin.
When will we see it?
Although BMW has not yet confirmed a launch date, given their usual four -year pace for facelifts, we can expect the 5 and i5 series to be refreshed in the first half of 2027, with the M5 following shortly after. So, no need to rush, although it does not bother us an early overview of this new brilliant grille.
