- A new report reiterates that the Mercedes-AMG CLE 63 will obtain a V8 engine with new details.
- It is a departure from the Turbocompressé Phev four -cylinder from other recent AMGs.
- The report says Mercedes will add false exhaust noises to amplify noise in the cabin.
V8 lovers can rejoice because Mercedes heard your pleads and brings the engine back to its AMG range. The next key 63 will indeed obtain a V8, but there is a twist. Although this is an exciting new, the engine seems to have exchanged a little of its soul, because it might not look like those you remember, especially if you turn off the speakers.
Carscoops reported in May 2024 that Mercedes would bring back the V8 for part of its AMG range. What we didn’t know then are all the details surrounding this quarter of work and how it would happen. Today we have learned a little more and the details are a bit of a mixed bag.

Yes, the V8 is on the menu in the next CLE 63. It has been quite obvious for several months. However, we noticed in January that the prototypes that run in nature do not resemble the old AMG V8 to which we are used to. This is probably because they use petrol particles filters that suffocate burble and the typical rumble of this engine. We assumed to be at the time when AMG could use false exhaust noises to balance things.
The torsion of the crank of the flat plan
According to CoachThis is exactly what Mercedes will do. In fact, he says there is another reason why the new V8 is calm beyond new filters. Rather than using a transverse crankshaft, it will operate a flat -plan crank. This is the same type you will find in the ancient Audi S4 and the Ford Mustang Shelby models. Although they didn’t take low speed, they sound very well at the top of the Rev range.

That said, Mercedes will use speakers to spread in some of these lower rumble customers loved in the old AMG V8. “To compensate for the higher and more aggressive sound of the V8 Crank Plane-Plane, AMG plans to provide future models with an artificial generator to simulate the soundtrack of its most famous models”, explains the magazine report
The new V8 should also include a soft hybrid 48V system with a start -up engine integrated into the gearbox, offering additional power and improved efficiency. It should be noted that there have been rumors on a rechargeable hybrid variant, although these can remain that – rumors.
For the context, the PHEV PHEV Motopropulser group of the current C63 consists of a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, an electric motor mounted at the rear and a lithium-ion battery, all working together to produce 671 horsepower and 752 pounds of torque.
Plus: thank God, the Mercedes-AMG Cle 63 2026 has a roaring V8
What do you think of this change? Should Mercedes scratch the false sounds and embrace a higher V8 that could make its own brand in history? Or should it go ahead and mix as much the old-fashioned rumble as possible? Tell us in the comments below!
