The two models get something before the end of the year, but the vice-president of engineering Lars Moravy kept him vague
–>
- Tesla’s vice-president of engineering said that the S model and the X model would get “a little love” this year.
- This could mean that they can receive upgrades to remain competitive in the middle of increasing competition.
- The S model has been in production since 2012 and the X model has existed since 2015.
Tesla has taken care of the past year, updating its two best -selling vehicles, the Model 3 sedan and the Crossover Model Y, while launching the highly anticipated and teasing cybertrucks like Cybercab.
Now, the company seems to continue this momentum with the updates of its oldest models, the Model S and the Model X, which have been in production since 2012 and 2015, respectively. This index comes from none other than the vice-president of Tesla engineering, Lars Moravy.
Speaking on Ryan McCaffrey Rush Podcast, Moravy said, “Give him a minute. We will get there. The upgrade a few years ago was greater than most people thought in terms of architecture and structure. We will give him a little love later this year; We will make sure that this gets some of the things we have put in 3 and Y. Everyone here has a small place in their hearts for S / X. They are not going anywhere soon.

This has aroused online speculation that a full update of the two models could be on the horizon. To a certain extent, Tesla would do well to refresh vehicles to look more like the rest of the range. Despite this, Moravy’s words on the ride podcast, the lightning seem very measured. “Some of the things we put in 3 and there” could simply refer to features such as ambient lighting and a camera mounted on the front bumper, rather than a complete overhaul.
Many hope that Tesla will go beyond minor updates and offer a more important style cooling, because the two models clearly show their age. The S model and the X model have largely maintained the same outdoor design for years, and a visual update could help them remain competitive.
The possibility of update updates raises the question of how these news could have an impact on current sales. After all, Tesla only made 94,105 cybertrucks, the X model and the examples of the S model last year. It looks like a large number, but is overshadowed by the 1,679,338 examples of the Y model and the 3 model built during the same period.
Should you wait to buy?
Although nothing is confirmed, Moravy’s comments suggest that changes are coming. For those who are considering a model S or an X model, it may be useful to wait until Tesla announces later this year. If the updates are substantial, the wait could be worth it.
