A recent facelift was not enough to prevent sales of models 3 in 2024 and today, Kia made his debut to worsen Tesla’s pain. It is the EV4, which will be sold later this year for about $ 35,000 / £ 31,000.
The Korean car manufacturer unveiled its new compact EV during the Kia Day event in Spain this week alongside the Little EV2 SUV Concept and the PV5 van, and although Kia previously revealed external images of the EV4, it was our first chance of discovering exactly what was going on under the skin.

Or maybe it should be skinsBecause Kia builds the EV4 in sedan and fastback sedan styles on the same wheelbase of 2,820 mm (111 inches). Europe will take both versions, but only the sedan will be offered in the United States.
A engine, a power level
The motorcycle group closely follows the model posed by the EV3 last year. This means an electric 400 volt electric (but cheaper) instead of the type of 800 volts mounted on the EV6 and EV9, and only one engine available, a 201 HP unit (204 PS / 150 kW) causing the front wheels. The double engine, all -wheel drive and GT versions will follow.
Opt for the smallest battery of 58.3 kWh and you will go faster, but not as far. Zero at 62 MPH with this configuration takes 7.4 seconds both in the sedan and the hatch, although the sedan will travel 267 miles (430 km) on a load, and the hatching is less useful of 255 miles (410 km).
Nearly 400 miles of reach
Choose the largest 81.4 kWh battery and the additional weight delays your arrival at 62 MPH from 0.3 seconds, but the reach gains seem more than sentence. The hatch is 367 miles (590 km) before needing to connect and the sedan can travel 391 miles (630 km). These figures all relate to cars on the 17 -inch wheels. Increase the size of the hoop and you will shrink the range.
There is not much difference in the filling time between the two batteries: 29 minutes for small and 31 for the Big’n. The two seem ice cream next to the EV6 engines of less than 20 minutes.
Watch Netflix or sing the karaoke
The sedan and hatching EV4s obtain the same 30 -inch dashboard and triple display and allow passengers to broadcast YouTube, Netflix and Disney +, to play games and even sing karaoke. Identical shootings should ensure that they correspond to each other for the rear space, but the 4730 mm (186.2 inch) sedan of 300 mm (11.8 inch) of additional body length means that it wins the freight war, offering 490 liters (17.3 inches) to 435 liters of the hatch (15.4 Cu -i).
The EV is on sale in Korea in March with the Korean sedan and the hatch produced by the Slovak arriving in European exhibition halls in the second half. America obtained its sedan made in the United States later in 2025.
