- The company has confirmed that the decision will trigger the cancellation of certain projects.
- Maserati sales reduced halfway last year, going from 26,600 in 2023 to only 11,300.
- The Italian union FIM is looking for clarifications on the future of Maserati de Stellantis.
The future of the Maserati MC20 fully electric, as well as the electric successors of Quattroporte and Levante, were called into question after the parent company Stellantis retained a planned investment of 1.5 billion euros ($ 1.56 billion) in the Italian brand. This decision could not arrive at a worst time for Maserati, who has trouble reducing sales and amazing financial losses.
While speaking of a recent call for results, the financial director of Stellantis, Doug Ostermann, confirmed that 1.5 billion euros in investment in Maserati had been struck off. The financial documents reveal that this will lead to “the cancellation of certain projects before the launch”, and although the details of these projects have not been provided, they should include the MC20 electric folgore promised for a long time.

According to Autocar, Ostermann believes that the conglomerate must examine the calendar of the introductions of planned products from Maserati. “We must recognize that the dynamics of this company, especially on the Chinese market, and our expectations in terms of speed of speed with which this luxury market would go to electrification,” he noted.
Maserati needs both money and new convincing models if they have a chance to survive. Last year, it lost 260 million euros ($ 271 million) and world sales increased from 26,600 units to only 11,300 in 2024. By firing this funding, the future of the Quattroporte and electric levante seem to be on trembling terrain.
The powerful Italian union, the FIM, wants Stellantis to clarify the future of Maserati at a meeting scheduled for March 11.

“Maserati represents one of the most critical situations,” said FIM secretary general, Ferdinando Uliano, in a recent issue of an internal magazine. “Despite the quality and high performance models, the brand suffers from errors and negligence in terms of marketing. We can no longer waste time. ”
Stellantis is currently looking for a new CEO after Carlos Tavares unexpectedly left the company in December. The new boss will have to decide which of the group’s brands will die and which will survive. Hoping that Maserati is the one that continues.
