  • Some Volvo dealers will start to sell Polestar vehicles in order to stimulate dull sales.
  • The change should almost double the number of retailers in Europe and North America.
  • This decision is part of a greater effort to help Polestar achieve annual growth of at least 30%.

The line between Volvo and Polestar becomes even more vague because the electric brand only seeks to exploit the vast network of Volvo dealerships. This is a notable change because the company has already relied on online sales as well as a handful of dedicated poestar spaces.

Automobil reports that the CEO of Polestar, Michael Lohscheller, confirmed the change at a conference in Germany and noted that this decision should help sales of overeating. As he explained, “our growth targets from 30 to 35% per year from 2024 to 2027 cannot be achieved with online sales alone.”

This decision will considerably expand the imprint of Polestar and the automotive reports that the number of European dealers will double almost 70 to 130. In North America, there should be 21 additional Polestar retailers.

It seems that only a handful of Volvo dealers will offer Polestar vehicles, but these figures could possibly grow. In fact, there is no shortage of opportunities, because Volvo recently noted that they had around 2,300 dealers in more than 100 countries.

This decision comes in the middle of a changing electric vehicle landscape, the evolution of politics and a world trade war. In this context, Polestar sales dropped from 15% last year to 44,851 units. It was a sharp decline of 2023 when the company moved 52,796 vehicles.

Although additional retailers should help stimulate sales, this could lead to annoying comparisons because Polestar and Volvo have a lot in common. However, there is a decent quantity of separation because the Polestar 3 starts at $ 67,500 while the Volvo Ex90 begins at $ 81,290 and has a third row. The models also have different motorcycle groups, although the two climb on the SPA2 platform and share a wheelbase of 117.5 inches (2,985 mm).
