  • A video showing a Porsche 996 with a Honda K24 engine accumulates views on YouTube.
  • The Honda Tubochargé engine is more than 500 hp and has the potential for more.
  • The sale of flat -cooled flat dishes of the 996 helped the owner finance the conversion work.

Do you know that the old Maxime about Miata is always the answer to any cars purchase enigma? It is starting to feel like K24 could always be the answer for motor exchange questions. The Honda Motors find their way in a ton of non-honda vehicles, including the Porsche 911.

A recent video on The reader YouTube Channel presented the results of such an exchange involving a coupe at the beginning of 996 generation. The owner, Ben Sipson, was so impressed by the Smart exchanged in K (yes, really) that his friends have built, that he decided to embark on his own Honda heart transplant.

Many engines exchange projects start with a car with a blown engine, but not this one. The six flat flat flat, cooled by 3.4 liters of the 911 has a reputation for failure thanks to the rating of the bore and failing of the tree intermediary, but the Sipson engine was always fully functional. He therefore removed it and sold it one of the many 996 owners who needed to replace a dead engine.

The funds collected from this sale helped to pay the construction of the four K24 online 2.4 liters, which is by no means standard. It has a freshly machined block, Pulsar 6262g Twin-Scroll Turbo, Haltech 1500 Elite Ecu, IGN-1A Coils, BMW 335i Intercolers, home intake collector, improved fuel pumps and all kinds of other goodies.

An adapter plate of Kennedy engineering products, an adaptation kit, a clutch and a steering wheel help the Honda Engine to the Porsche transmission, and an LSD guarantees that power is only proper. And there is a lot of power.

Sipson had its 996 Dyno’d before the exchange and the car made 256 hp (260 PS) on its original Porsche engine. After the Honda Switcheroo, he expelled more than 500 hp (507 PS) and has the potential to do much more and safe. Swappers love K24 because they are robust and governed, but also cheap to buy and build. If we go, it is much cheaper to redo than an adjustment Porsche would be.

Professional fabricator (consult baysidefabrication.com), Sipson has created many components necessary for the exchange itself and now sells engine mounting kits to help other manufacturers 996 to perform the same swap. Is K24 your ideal exchange 911 or do you prefer an LS V8 or another engine?
