  • Gorden Wagener admits that Mercedes’ infotainment software has not been good.
  • The brand wants to work on crafts and sophistication to increase luxury.
  • The billed class S will obtain the same hyperscreal network as EQ electric.

The screens have reshaped car interiors more than anything else in recent years, while car manufacturers have rushed to pack more technologies and entertainment in their vehicles. Mercedes -Benz has fully adopted this trend, unfolding its huge hyperscreen dashboard – a configuration extended to three arrangements that transformed the cockpit into a digital control center. But despite the charge of the accusation, the director of the company design does not believe that the screens are intrinsically luxurious.

Speaking recently with ABC News at an event for the new Mercedes-Benz-Places apartments complex in Miami, Gorden Wagener shared his reflections on the future of car design. Among its most attractive statements – as predicting that artificial intelligence could replace car designers in a decade – Walener has also recognized some of the problems with heavy screen interiors, including the Mercedes hypero -screen.

The problem with screens

“We don’t have hyperscreal in all the cars right now, just in a few,” he said. “On the material side, it’s very good. On the software side, it was not so good. Because when you have a big screen, you want to have excellent content on it. So we are working on more specific and more entertaining content. The screens are not luxury. You have a better – and biggest television at home, right? And each car has a large screen. “”

Luxury focus

According to Wagener, it is important to “create luxury beyond the screen”. Few would deny that Mercedes-Benz currently creates some of the most luxurious interiors of its segment, but one might wonder how things like hyperscreen will age over time. Typical new cars have a lifespan of around 18 years – although it can vary wildly – and software that feels modern in 2025 can feel old in the 2040s.

Mercedes-Benz made its debut with hyperscreal with electric equations, but it will soon be added to the LIFTED 2026 class. It is not clear if the software will be different from what is in equations, but have massive screens with fingerprints all over them does not shout exactly luxury. According to Wagener, Mercedes must improve “crafts and sophistication” beyond its screens to improve brand vehicles.
