  • The new Honda S7 competes with Tesla Model Y, Onvo L60 and Zeekr 7X.
  • Two versions are offered, both with batteries of 89.8 kWh and up to 404 miles of range.
  • The basic model has a single electric motor, while the double flagship engine offers 469 hp.

It has been eight months since the Ye S7 in Honda China has been previewed and now it has been officially launched. As on other markets where the Japanese brand slowly pushed the height of the goalkeeper, this new electric SUV does not compete with some of the country’s cheap and joyful electric SUVs, and is a little more premium. Despite this, it is still quite affordable compared to American standards, from ¥ 259,900 or ~ $ 35,800.

The production model seems to have abandoned the “YE” of its name and is simply known as S7. It is not the Urus, but as far as Hondas is concerned, it is quite striking. Indeed, it is different from any other Honda model sold elsewhere, and this should help him stand out on the crowded Chinese cars. The SU7 has been animated through the joint venture of Honda with Dongfeng and will compete with the tastes of Tesla Model Y, Onvo L60 and Zeekr 7X.

Under the sub-tension of the SUV is an EV architecture dedicated with a battery of 89.8 kWh. The basic model has a single electric motor delivering 268 hp (200 kW) through the rear wheels. Although it is nothing to write at home, it should be fairly adequate, and the cheapest of the two S7 variants has a range of CLTC data cited by 404 miles (650 km).

Those looking for an additional groan can opt for the double engine version with all -wheel drive. It has the same rear engine but adds a 201 HP (150 kW) unit at the front, which causes a combined 469 hp (350 kW). The increase in power and weight decreases to 385 miles (620 km), which is even more than sufficient.

The interior seems to be focused on technology and luxury. It has a 12.8 -inch infotainment screen focused on the portrait in the center of the dashboard, as well as a group of 9.9 -inch digital instruments in front of the driver, and abandons traditional wing mirrors in favor of cameras and screens in the doors.

Honda has added twin glass roof panels to S7 and a Bose audio system at 16 speakers can be optionized, with a loudspeaker in the front headrests.
