- Lincoln Navigator’s recall involves more than 35,000 vehicles with defective LEDs that could cause fires.
- The dealers will disable defective LED lights in the navigators recalled instead of replacing the mirrors.
- The recall affects the models from January 2014 to June 2017, with alerts from March 24.
Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for new cars to be recalled due to the risk of fire, and generally, these problems arise from engine or fuel tank problems. However, this is not the case with more than 35,000 Lincoln Navigator models which are recalled in the United States due to LED light assemblies which could potentially trigger a fire.
The recall has an impact on the Navigator models manufactured from January 17, 2014 to June 30, 2017. In total, 35,328 vehicles are involved, the company stating that everyone has the present defect.

According to the company, the problem lies in the LED logo lamps in the lateral door mirrors of the driver and the passenger, which could short-circuit without triggering the short detection system of the vehicle. The deep cause? The polyurethane repotting material has not properly adhered to the metal terminals, leading to potential gaps and cracks where the water or the conductive liquid can infiltrate the printed circuit card of the LED.
Over time, this leads to corrosion, which could possibly cause a short and, in the worst case, a fire.

The defect was brought for the first time for Lincoln’s attention last September after the 2017 mirror assembly caught fire in Canada. Later, he became aware of the mirror of another browser to set fire when the owner started the SUV at the beginning of 2020. In February 4, 2025, the company was aware of four guarantee complaints, two field reports and three fire customer service reports in browser models in the United States between August 2017 and December 2022.
Those who have a affected browser will be alerted to the recall of March 24. Curiously, Ford will not replace the mirrors as you might expect. Instead, dealers will simply cut the LED light power wire.
