  • Four teslas exhausted in Berlin as the presumed incendiary attacks continue to degenerate.
  • The police have found several other damaged vehicles in addition to burnt electric vehicles.

Friday, police in Germany were called to a vehicle fire around 1:40 am, initially thinking that it would be another banal incident. They did not know, the night would turn into a full -fledged prosecution of multiple similar fires. As the flames were out, four teslas had been completely burnt down, letting the authorities rush to find the authors.

The incidents all occurred in Plänterwald and Steglitz, two suburbs of Berlin. After having answered the first call, the police received another about 30 minutes later, reporting another fire, about 30 minutes by car from the first location. Authorities have confirmed that all affected teslas were burned on the ground and were no longer condable.

Local authorities no longer lead the investigation. According to TagesschauThe State Security Service has taken over and now manages the case. Although no injury has been reported, officials confirmed that at least five other vehicles, apart from the teslas, have suffered damage caused by fires.

This marks at least the third suspected criminal fire targeting Teslas in Germany. According to RBB24Similar attacks took place in early February, when two cars and several charging stations were burnt down. Then, on March 5, someone burnt down an electric pole providing electricity to a Tesla factory, closing the plant for several days.

Let us not forget that a little over a month ago, one of the very first demonstrations against Elon Musk following his dubious hand gesture was in Berlin in Gigafactory in Tesla. In this case, two political groups have taken responsibility and called to boycott the Tesla products.

Tesla sales have reached a sharp drop in Germany

Although these acts of criminal fire do not seem directly linked to political demonstrations seen earlier in Berlin, they could share some of the same underlying feelings. At the end of 2024, two political groups took responsibility for organizing demonstrations against Elon Musk, calling for boycotting Tesla products. These demonstrations could have contributed to an astonishing drop of 70.6% of Tesla sales in Germany, according to data from the Nation’s transport authority, compared to January and February of the previous year.
