This disguised tiguan could hide the construction blocks for a more robust compact van

- The spies caught a possible test mule which could preview a competitor Ford Maverick.
- If it is correct, the model could be placed under the Amarok on the South American markets.
- A launch could occur next year, but the details remain vague for the moment.
For years, Volkswagen has teased us with the possibility of a new collection. The Atlas Tanoak concept caused a sensation at the 2018 New York Auto Show and presented in preview what a potential competitor of Honda Ridgeline could look like.
It was followed by the smallest concept of Tarok at the São Paulo automobile show and, at the time, Volkswagen promised that a production version would be launched in Brazil with “barely changes”. However, this has never happened because the company only offers Saveiro and Amarok in the country.

This could soon change when the spy photographers caught a mysterious crossing suffering from tests in the north of Sweden. Although it just seems to be a camouflaged version of the old Tiguan, the spy shooters believe that it could be a mule for a new truck that attacks the Amarok.
The model could be called the Udara and its rumor could be in development for the South American market. In addition, speculation suggests that the truck could be launched in Brazil in mid-201.

Given this, it is not surprising that the Udara presents itself on the MQB A0 platform which underlies models such as Virtus, Nivus and Tera. This last crossover has recently been put into production in Brazil and is expected to be exported to more than 25 countries in Latin America and Africa from later this year.
Nothing else is known about the model, but it is possible that the truck can share the engines with its platform comrades. This suggests that there could be TSI engines of 1.0 and 1.4 liters developing up to 150 hp (112 kW / 152 PS).
There are obviously more questions than answers at this stage, but, if everything takes place, the Udara could compete with the Ford Maverick and Fiat Toro south of the pension.
