  • The Tesla exhibition hall in San Fransisco has been working illegally for almost a decade.
  • The inspectors never signed the overhaul of $ 2.3 million in the 1937 building.
  • The officials told SF Chronicle that the fact of not registering on work was a “surveillance”.

The Tesla modernist dealer in San Francisco has had many visitors lately, most of them protesting against Elon Musk’s activities who have put thousands of unemployed federal employees. But there is a guy who really got out for stopping but did not do it: the building inspector.

City officials have never managed to sign a refit of $ 2.3 million which took place in 2015 and 2016, reports the San Francisco Chronicle, which means that the exhibition hall has been working without a license for almost a decade.

Tesla acquired the 1937 building at the corner of Van Ness Ave. At the end of 2015 and began to renovate the old Bentley exhibition hall, update its mechanical and electric systems ready for a 2016 opening, the SFC said. The Ministry of the Inspection of Buildings made several trips to the site during the redevelopment, giving the head sign to the plumbing, electricity and heating and ceiling systems.

However, the newspaper’s investigation team discovered that the inspectors had not given the exhibition hall of the last sign. It seems that a civil servant tried to carry out the final inspection in August 2016, but for any reason, he could not follow and no one returned to finish the work.

Asked about the missing documents, a spokesperson for the DBI said that the whole situation was “surveillance” and that they were making a violation notice and would require Tesla to renew the permit and adopt an inspection to make it legal. We asked Tesla a comment but, without surprise, we have not yet heard (Tesla has also not offered comments to SFC journalists). Another official told SFC that the city’s permits monitoring system was to be blamed.

The revelation that the exhibition hall has been working illegally for almost 10 years is not a trivial question, but it is probably not at the top of the Musk task list at the moment. The sales of the company have dropped this year, as is the course of Tesla’s actions, and the wave of protests, the attacks of vandals and the close relations of Musk with President Trump and support for far -right political groups in Europe is not the best for the brand’s public image – or, so far, its sales.
