  • The independent artist Theottle imagined a fully electric Toyota BZ86 sports car study.
  • The concept uses the GR86 proportions while integrating the language of the EV style of Toyota.
  • It was imagined with a 338 horsepower double engine configuration, offering more than 326 miles of range.

There is no lack of chatting on the expansion future of the GR range of Toyota, which should include a range of high-performance sports cars ranging from a new Celica and MR2 to the next Supra and even a Super-Supercar GR. While many of these machines will be fed by traditional petrol engines and hybrids, an independent digital artist has introduced a completely electric touch to the mixture.

Enter the Toyota BZ86, a fictitious creation by the digital artist Théophile Chin. The idea behind the study of this coupe is to keep the sporting proportions of the current GR86 of Toyota, but with an entirely new electrified touch.

More: these are all future sports cars from Toyota Gr

Despite the loan from the general form of the GR86, the BZ86 adopts a completely different design language. In accordance with its electrical nature, Chin was inspired by the recently revealed Toyota CH-R + crossover and the BZ4X Bzlifted, resulting in an elegant and futuristic look.

At the front, the electric sports car has a nose similar to a hammer, flanked by sharp headlights and large contribution of bumpers. The lateral profile is aggressively carved, with a two-tone finish on the roof line and side skirts adding a touch of flair. And, of course, the oversized load port on the front wings leaves no doubt – this coupe must be connected.

A familiar back with a new twist

The back of the BZ86 strongly borrows the CH-R +crossing, with its full-width LED rear lights and its sloping rear window. Although the plastic coating on the rear bumper is not to everyone’s taste, it is balanced by the addition of a sports diffuser. That said, the placement of the license plate could use a little more subtlety.

Plus: Mazda online of six rumors for the new GR supra and RX-7 seems too wild to be true

As it is purely a digital concept, there are no specifications that are difficult to do. However, the double engine configuration of the C-HR +, which emits a combined power of 338 horsepower (252 kW / 343 PS), could easily serve as a basis for an electric equivalent of the GR86. Combine this with the 77 kWh crossing of the crossroads, and you can expect a range north of 326 miles (525 km) in a more aerodynamic coupe.

Despite the cool factor of the project, Toyota Gazoo Racing does not intend to introduce an electric sports car – at least in the near future. The truth is that most buyers will be better with the next Gas-Gopzing Celica, MR2, GR86 and GR SUPRA, temporarily leaving the concept of electric mobility in the hands of family SUVs.

While the BZ86 is an undeniably cool proposal, Toyota Gazoo Racing does not intend to give life to an electric sports car – at least not in the near future. For the moment, most enthusiasts will have to do with the options fueled by petrol, such as the next Celica, MR2, GR86 and GR SUPRA, leaving the world of electric mobility to the family SUVs of Toyota.
