- Skoda revealed that 69% of Fabia customers opted for manual transmission last year.
- This taking rate is higher than on a number of sports cars sold in the United States.
- Despite the popularity of DIY gearboxes, Skoda noted that customers adopt automation.
Manual transmissions are closely associated with sports cars, but they have become increasingly rare over the years. The quarter of work has been so dramatic that cars such as the Chevrolet Corvette no longer even offer an optional manual.
However, there are still a handful of sports manuals, including the BMW M4, Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing and Porsche 911 Carrera T. At the bottom, there is the Honda Civic Si, Ford Mustang and Subaru Brz / Toyota Gr86.

However, can you guess which model 69% of consumers got a manual last year? In the unlikely case, you guessed the Skoda Fabia, tap your back.
The automaker revealed surprising statistics earlier this week and noted that it was their most popular long -term manual. In terms of manual transmission rate, the SCALA is available in second position with a respectable 45%. It is followed by the Kamiq crossover at 35%.

Although the textbooks are still popular with Skoda customers, they have adopted the automatic in recent years. As the car manufacturer noted, only 13% of Fabia buyers opted for a manual in 2018. The change is more dramatic on the Octavia, where the 72% manual socket rate switched to 80% automatic.
Automatic gearboxes offer a number of advantages, but manuals are generally cheaper and lighter. In the case of Fabia, an automatic can cost an additional £ 1,000 ($ 1,293 / € 1,188) compared to a six -speed manual. It makes them attractive if you have a tight budget and you don’t mind moving.
