  • Foxconn provides ink contracts with two Japanese brands in the coming months.
  • It is also about to start building its electric B electric vehicles and internal C model.
  • The Taiwanese company expressed interest in buying participation in Nissan.

The manufacturer of Taiwanese contracts, Foxconn, revealed that it was close to the supply of incorporation with two Japanese car manufacturers to design and manufacture a pair of electric vehicles. Although limited details on these new models are known, they will be animated alongside two of Foxconn’s internal electric vehicles, namely the C model and the B model.

Foxconn has increased its involvement in the automotive industry for several years. At one point, he announced that he would invest up to $ 170 million to build the Endurance van of Lordstown Motors, but this project was then rebuilt. He would also have expressed his lively interest in acquiring Nissan, before the Japanese brand concluded unhappy negotiations with Honda about a potential merger.

While speaking at a conference on investors earlier this month, President Young Liu said the company planned to sign agreements with two Japanese companies in the next two months. Foxconn will use its “business design and contract manufacturing model (CDMS)” in the development of these new electric vehicles.

There is no word on which two Foxconn brands speak. It is certainly possible that one of them can be Nissan, because a report in early February said that after the latter’s merger with Honda failed, it expressed its desire to work with technological companies. Foxconn could be one of them, and associate with this would also provide Nissan with a precious cash infusion.

Foxconn’s Own EVs

While the Taiwanese giant is busy finalizing contract manufacturing transactions, it also advances with its own electric vehicles. Focus Taiwan reports that the C model will come into production in North America during the fourth quarter of this year. The electric crossover was previewed as a concept in October 2021 and, in Concept Guse, had a claimed range of 435 miles (700 km). Since it has been almost three years and that years have since unveiled the concept, the production model can display certain changes.

Foxconn’s B model will be in front of the C model, which should reach the production line in the middle of this year. The B model was previewed in 2022 and is of size similar to the VW.3 ID. It was designed by Pininfarina, is powered by a single electric motor with 230 hp and has a claimed range of 280 miles (450 km).
