Anxious to avoid new prices of new prices imposed by US President Donald Trump, Honda will approach batteries for her hybrid vehicles of her Japanese Automaker Toyota compatriot and her battery factory in North Carolina. Among the first vehicles to use these batteries will include the Honda CR-V, an unspecified SUV and several other models.
Honda factories already operating in the United States are currently getting the batteries of their hybrids in Japan and China. However, Trump promulgated a new price of 10% on Chinese products on February 4, and then struck them with an additional 10% on March 4.

According to Nikkei Asia, Honda will approach enough batteries for around 400,000 hybrid vehicles in the United States. These will come from the $ 14 billion Toyota battery factory in North Carolina, which will start production next month. While EV demand increases, hybrid sales are also up and the total of American sales could reach 4.12 million by 2030.
Last year, Honda sold around 308,000 hybrid models in the United States, representing 22% of the 1.42 million cars it delivered locally. By 2030, he wanted to increase the sales of global hybrids to 1.3 million units, excluding China.

This is not the only movement that Honda makes to avoid the new prices of Trump. Earlier this month, it was revealed that the brand had decided that it would build the new generation civic hybrid in the United States, as opposed to Mexico which was the initial plan. The company said that reciprocal prices of 25% on Mexican and Canadian products could cost it about $ 4.7 billion a year. It also plans to restructure its supply chain to reduce the impact of new administration policies.
Toyota also wants to increase production and sales of its hybrid models. In 2024, its electrified vehicles represented around 40% of total sales in North America, but it aims to push up to 80% by 2030.
