  • A set of patented drawings deposited by Stellantis has an average engine supercar.
  • The model is an early model of the development of Alfa 33 Stradale.
  • The brand plans to publish more limited production specialties in the near future.

Alfa Romeo seems to have the impression that they hit automotive gold with the revival of the 33 Stradale Supercar. And clearly, they don’t stop there. In fact, we can expect more limited promotions to follow. However, the car you see here is not the next great thing.

Let’s go back a little. Today, a set of patent drawings has surfaced online, leading to wild speculations according to which they represented the next exotic supercar of Alfa. Spoiler alert: They don’t. But the truth, although less exciting, is still quite interesting.

Plus: 2027 Alfa Romeo Giulia will be a crossover, abandoning its sedan roots

We found the official patent file which includes both exterior and interior drawings of an elegant and lowered supercar and an intermediate engine, which served as the basis for our rendering. As is the case with the patents, the car is without badge, but some subtle clues, like a touch of the classic sectors of Scudetto, indicated the centro stile of Alfa Romeo as a designer.

The real story behind the patent

Our colleagues at Motor1 spoke with Krystyna Perry, head of public relations in Alfa Romeo, who confirmed the source of patented drawings:

“I can confirm that these images represent the 33 Stradale in its first project to design the physical model 1: 1. They date back to October 2022,” she said. “This model design was patented in accordance with the Alfa Romeo Centro Stile procedure at that time. The procedure involves patent the style of a project to protect the uniqueness of its design. Our process establishes a duration of two years for design patents, and during expiration, we assess whether to renew them or not. Once the patent expires, the images can be made public. ”

In other words, these images give us an overview of the development of Modern Stradale Alfa Romeo 33. It explains the shared proportions and key design elements, but also shows how much design can evolve between the phase of the scale model and final production.

The aggressive LED headlights of the first prototype are lower, while the lateral cooling intakes have been repositioned higher on the rear wings, with flying buttresses adding an additional flair.

Plus: the fixation of the Alfa Romeo SUV kills for good giulietta

The doors of the greenhouse and butterflies strongly resemble the Maserati MC20, proving that Alfa Romeo was formerly planned to adopt more shared components. Note that the 33 Stradale is on the Maserati carbon fiber monohull and uses the same V6 Turbo V6 Motopropulser group, although it is also available in fully electric form.

The rear of the patented design resembles an update version of the 33 Stradale. The protruding facts include a floating engine cover, semi-circular rear lights, double rods and diagonal line models.

An overview inside: a change in design philosophy

Interestingly, we also have an overview of this proposed design, and it is a departure from the 33 Stradale. While the seats and the steering wheel remain familiar, the dashboard and the central console adopt a more distinct and rationalized look. The cabin adopts a minimalist approach, with a touch screen and fewer buttons and switch switch compared to the final production model.

What is the next step for Alfa Romeo?

The Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale made its debut in August 2023, the first deliveries taking place in December 2024. Alfa plans to conclude the production of the 33 units of this seven -figure supercar by December 2026. This will probably erase the track for their next major project, which will not only bring the very necessary cash name but, more importantly, will gener a little d’Alfa.

These special editions are developed by a dedicated department called Bottega, and previous relationships have suggested that the design of the new supercar could have been influenced by four emblematic classics of Alfa Romeo. Although patent drawings for these will most likely remain a well-maintained secret for a few more years, we all hope for more details to surface soon.

As for the first version of the 33 Stradale, it should not influence future Alfa Romeo products, at least, according to the public relations chief.

Until the Italian brand shows us the next limited production special, you can consult the first prototype of the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale in a direct comparison with the final proposal and the Maserati MC20 donor car. Which one do you prefer?
