- World sales of the Spanish brand increased 7.5% last year to 310,000 units.
- Seat sells certain traditional rechargeable hybrid and hybrid models.
- The owner of the company Wayne Griffiths says that the first electric vehicle of the headquarters must be profitable.
Like most major European car manufacturers plunge their heads first into the world of electric vehicles, it seemed that the inevitable seat would quickly follow suit. After all, Cupra, which has been formed out of siege, sells the electric electric born in recent years and recently launched the Tavascan electric SUV. However, the boss of Seat and Cupra claims that the first will not come out of this decade.
According to Wayne Griffiths, “the seat at the moment is in a good place” and the company does not seem willing to potentially interrupt its momentum with a new EV. In 2024, sales increased by 7.5% to 310,000 units. Despite this, Griffiths acknowledged that “for the headquarters to have a certain future, we must have an electric future.”

If the Cupra brand had not been transformed from the company’s internal performance division in its own brand, Seat could have launched a Re-Badged version of the VW ID.3 for itself. Addressing Autocar, Griffiths said that Seat could “consider” a model based on the VW ID.1 as the first EV, but no final decision has been taken at this stage, which means that the Spanish brand does not officially work on an EV before 2030.

Only time will tell us if an EV will not be launched before 2030, the seat will harm. EV sales increased new peaks in 2024, and although there have been a few hiccups, sales will probably break records this year. Fortunately, the seat is not based solely on traditional ice models and currently sells hybrid hybrid and traditional rechargeable versions of Leon Hatch and Leon Sportourer. These two models offer more than 74 miles (120 km) of all electric practice.
Regardless of the brand’s first EV, Griffiths said that it “should be profitable”, as for “siege as a business, we are looking for money now and investing”.
