- Xiaomi aims at 350,000 sales of electric vehicles in China, exceeding the main German car manufacturers.
- With attractive conceptions and generous equipment, the SU7 and Yu7 have proven to be popular.
- The company has announced its intention to sell its vehicles worldwide in the coming years.
Not long ago, higher quality German cars were considered the quintessence of luxury in China. For brands like Mercedes-Benz and Porsche, China was always their largest market, sales exceeding those of any other country. However, as new local brands have emerged, local preferences are starting to go to Chinese companies and their offers. Xiaomi is a perfect example of this change.
Xiaomi, mainly known for being the largest manufacturer of electronics and consumer goods, producing everything, from vacuum cleaners to computer monitors, refrigerators, suitcases and smartphones. Then, the brand’s owner decided that he wanted to build an electric vehicle. Unlike the founding billionaire of Dyson, who failed to launch an EV, Xiaomi succeeded where others could not, with his first electric vehicle, the SU7.

Deliveries of SU7 customers started less than a year ago, and the company already has its objective on the German establishment. The company aims to sell 350,000 electric vehicles in China this year, thanks to the SU7 and the upcoming exit of its competitor Tesla Model Y, the YU7. If Xiaomi can reach this target, it would go beyond the combined sales of Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche in China from last year, Handelsblatt reports.

Expansion beyond China
It is not only at home in China, where Xiaomi wants to develop his activities of electric vehicles. Earlier this month, the president of the company William Lu, revealed his intention to develop on more markets. Although he did not specify the exact dates, he assured that Xiaomi would enter new regions “in the coming years”.
The arrival of the YU7 will mark a pivotal moment for the company. SUVs continue to dominate world sales, and there is a good chance that the yu7 surpasses the SU7. Deliveries should start in June or July, and the industry will watch closely to see if Xiaomi can continue to increase.
