- Alfa Romeo plans to end the production of Giulia and Stelvio models powered by gas in summer.
- Diesel versions can remain in production slightly longer than their petrol counterparts.
- The sedan and the SUV will be replaced by electric and hybrid models in the near future.
Alfa Romeo will prepare to end the production of all the essence versions of the current generation Giulia and Stelvio. Although we have known for some time that these models have approached the end of their life cycle, this is the first time that we have seen a concrete date attached to their disappearance.
Information on the imminent disappearance emerged for the first time on Reddit when a screenshot was published, apparently representing a service note sent to the network of car manufacturers through Italy. He indicates that the production of the Giulia Quadrifoglio will end on March 31, the Stelvio Quadrifoglio on April 30 and the regular models Giulia and Stelvio Sprint, Veloce and Intense on May 31.

The authenticity of this note has not yet been verified, and Carscoops contacted Alfa Romeo for a comment, although we have not yet heard. If what the memo says is true, it will mark the end of the Giulia in the current generation that has existed for a decade and the Stelvio which was launched at the end of 2016.
Interestingly, the memo makes no mention of the diesel versions of the Giulia and Stelvio – strongly because they will remain a little longer. How long? It’s not yet clear, but Mopar Insiders suggest Their availability will be limited over time.
What is the next step for Alfa Romeo?
Fortunately, the Giulia and Stelvio will not be resigned to the history books in the future, while Alfa Romeo develops the new Stelvio generation on the same large Stla platform as the Dodge Charger, Jeep Recon and Jeep Wagoneer S. abandoned.
As for the Giulia, a new version is in preparation, but it may not look like its predecessor. Although the details are still rare, there is a possibility that it can move away from the traditional layout of the sedans in favor of something more similar to a crossover – think of an elegant and rationalized silhouette similar to the Peugeot 408. It is always a “waiting” situation, but a green thing is certain:
