  • The first generation Nissan Murano was used as a base for a SUV inspired by GT-R.
  • The bodykit reproduces the R35-Gen style, with authentic lights.
  • The construction, clearly a product of a big fan of Godzilla, was spotted in Malaysia.

While Nissan may have recently stopped accepting orders for the GT-R R35, the sports car still controls a dedicated fans base around the world. A particularly enthusiastic fan of Malaysia brought this passion to new peaks, creating an imitator of GT-R based in Murano, mixing the aggressive style of the R35 with the practicality of a SUV. You can call it the Murano GT-R.

Plus: the Nissan Fairlady X is the ungodly union of a new Z and a murano

This unique construction is rooted in the first generation Nissan Murano, although you barely recognize it as such. The number of style changes clearly indicates that this is not a simple conversion. From what we can say in the photos, only the greenhouse and the pillars have been postponed from the Murano Original – an impressive feat in itself, showing how the efforts were devoted to this transformation.

R35 style, MURANO PRACTICE

The front and rear ends have been completely redesigned, inspired by the signature lines of the R35. The grille and the inputs of front bumpers resemble those of the second lift of the GT-R, which made its debut in 2016, while the headlights and the rear lights seem to come from a previous model.

The rear section has been extended to accommodate the two spoilers. However, on the basis of the panel gaps, it seems that the tailgate no longer opens, which means that the only way to access the loading area seems to be from the inside of the cabin.

A work in progress

The bodykit also includes wider front and rear wings, although they look a little moved when associated with the high earth clearing of the SUV and thick wall -shaped tires. That said, the manufacturer could still have some tips in their sleeves, perhaps a new set of alloy wheels and a new work of flashy paint. After all, the body is still not painted and the current rims seem a little undersized for the large arches.

The unique SUV appeared on the Facebook page of K1 RacingAn exhaust store based in Bandar Baru Bangi, Malaysia. The videos on the page reveal a personalized exhaust system with quad pipes, giving the Murano a sound which is unequivocal GT-R. Unfortunately, messages do not offer any details on vehicle specifications, so we are left in ignorance of what really fuels this construction.

Plus: Nissan concepts designed by students for 2033 include a GT-R SUV

For a little context, the first generation Murano made its debut in 2002, sharing its platform with the third generation and sixth generation Altima sedans. Under the hood, he wrapped a desolate version of the 3.5 -liter Natural suction V6 engine from 350z, offering 245 horsepower (183 kW / 249 PS). On the other hand, the 3.8 liter V6 of 3.8 liters of the GT-R de la GT-R launches from 473 horses (353 kW / 480 PS) to 600 horsepower (447 kW / 608 PS), depending on the model year and the variant.

Whether or not this construction is to your liking, we cannot deny the creativity and the skills that have been carried out. We keep an eye on the photos of the finished model, hoping that they soon appear on social networks. Until then, take advantage of the sound of this Godzilla-Meet-Suv hybrid.
