- Spyderwerks replaced all body panels, making this Porsche look like a MX-5.
- Under the new exterior, this Porsche keeps its 928 chassis and a 5.0 -liter V8 engine.
- Although the car has only 5,714 miles on the clock, it was not sold during a recent auction.
Believe it or not, this strange creation is in fact a Porsche 928. I know, it is difficult to believe, given the strange bodywork now adorning the outside of the classic Porsche, but it is really a 928. Earlier this week, it was listed for sale but did not find a new owner, even if the auctions reached $ 15,000.
Although it is a 1987 Porsche 928, it would have been transformed in the 1990s by a small company called Spyderwerks. This company is no longer there, but it is known to create a handful of Droptop 928 like this. The construction of exact details on the number of SpyderWerwerks cars has been built is difficult, but it is clear that these 928 modified are quite rare.

The body of this 928 Spyder is a gap of everything Porsche built in the 1980s. In fact, it shares more design similarities with a Mazda MX-5 than with the Porsche 928. The original bodywork panels, were replaced by a softer and more crowned design which is much more in line with the ambiance of the convertible sport car.
Take the front, for example. He has simple round headlights and, like 928, customs. New wing mirrors have also been installed, as are new doors and door handles. Being a spyder, the fixed roof has also been cut, giving way to a flexible convertible top. The bulging quarter panels really attract the eyes, just like the rear lights of interesting colors.

Despite all the work done outside the car, a large part of the cabin remains standard 928. With that being said, modifications have been made to dashboard and door panels, while a new Momo steering wheel was also installed. The original V8 of 5.0 liters naturally suction seems completely original, and the car was only driven for 5,714 miles (9,195 km), MECUM notes.
Probably one of the main reasons why the car has not sold is that most people probably have no idea what it is, or do not particularly like the idea of having a 928 which does not even look like a Porsche. Add to that the fact that the creation of Spyderwerks has a restored recovery title, and it is not exactly an easy sale.
Despite its rare origins, this Porsche Spyderwerks may need a little more time (and a buyer with a lot of imagination) to find his perfect house.
