  • The NHTSA defect office (ODI) shines its projectors on the F-150 Ford.
  • Some picks for the 2015-2017 model year make unexpected descent.
  • About 1.27 million trucks with the six -speed car are taken in the safety probe.

The most intelligent modern automatic transmissions are so intelligent that they seem to know how to move before you even realized that you needed lower equipment. But the Ford F-150 chooses to exchange ratios at a bad time, and now the regulators have opened a probe to examine a problem that could affect nearly 1.3 million trucks.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) puts the Ford F-15 of the 2015-2017 model year after receiving 138 drivers complaints that say that trucks make unexpected and definitively not proposed genes.

The downgrades occur without prior warning, and at road speeds, which means that they could be more than confusing and boring. Some drivers report that the change does not only slow down the truck, but can dangerously lock the rear wheels. In bad weather, the effect could be like crossing one of these kickplates in a driver’s training center designed to launch a car side. But much less fun.

Although the ODI report does not indicate the specific transmission in this case, we know that Ford has introduced the 13th generation F-150 for the 2015 model year, but the 10-speed automatic automotive manufacturer did not arrive on the MY18 before truck. This suggests that affected microphones have all the oldest six -speed automobiles.

It is estimated that 1,270,970 trucks are covered by the ODI preliminary survey, which will examine the problem and decide whether a large -scale engineering analysis is necessary. If this happens and the testers find the defect with the transmission or its control unit, Ford may be necessary to recall all these trucks. And it would not be an ota correcting in Tesla fast, but it would mean that the owners return to the dealerships.

Earlier this month, Ford announced a recall for thousands of F-150 trucks due to a software problem that prevented electric or electric brakes on hydraulics on the towed trailers to function properly. The correction for the recall, which also affected the brand’s Super Duty trucks as well as the Maverick, Expedition and Lincoln Navigator, is to deploy new brake module software with integrated trailer.
