The Audi A3 will soon obtain an entirely electric counterpart, probably in the form of an autonomous model which rolls on a platform dedicated to EV

- The CEO of Audi revealed plans for a new entry -level EV to reach the programming.
- The still unknown model will be in the same segment with the Audi A3.
- The production of the new Audi will take place in Ingolstadt, from 2026.
Audi may have decided to keep the ice in life longer than originally expected, but that will not affect the expected deployment of new electric vehicles. One of them will be an entry -level model similar to the Audi A3 powered by ice, which should make its debut next year.
The news was shared by the CEO of Audi, Gernot Döllner, during an interview with the German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung. The Audi Boss described the upcoming model as “an electric vehicle in the same class as the A3”. Döllner also revealed that the EV will be produced in Ingolstadt, from 2026.
Plus: 2025 AUDI A3 TFSI E PHEV A up to 268 hp and 89 miles of electric range
The current generation of the Audi A3 was introduced in 2020 on the basis of MQB architecture, and received an update in mid-life in 2024.
The time of the launch of the Audi of compact size makes us believe that it goes on the existing MeB architecture, sharing it with the Audi Q4 e-tron and the whole of the ID VW family. The new SSP platform dedicated to EV should arrive in 2028 or 2029, underlying the VW Golf MK9 and the future electric iterations of the VW T-Roc, Skoda Octavia and Cupra Leon.

There is a good chance that the new Audi will have a five-door body-body-body style that is more popular in Europe than four-door sedans. Of course, no one can exclude the possibility of a small crossover, similar to the A3 Allstreet. In all cases, the model will likely inherit the latest style language of the Ingolstadt brand, combined with high -tech functionalities inside the cabin and competitive figurines.
Plus: VW ID.2 could have a photo in America, but ID.1 is “very improbable”
The entry -level EV could be the Audi version of the next VW ID.2 which should also arrive in the form of production in 2026. If it will be the case, its price will be higher than the VW model of € 25,000, in accordance with the positioning of the Audi brand more premium within the VW group.
In addition to the next A3 EV, Audi CEO has also revealed that the company will introduce a new model in China in April, which is developed locally with the help of SAIC.
Audi is currently going through a difficult period due to the lower adoption than EV, difficult competition and political uncertainty. The German automaker recently announced its intention to eliminate 7,500 jobs in Germany by 2029, in a “socially responsible” manner.
