- The Hemi V8 would be made at the Michigan Dundee engine plant.
- According to initiate sources, production will restart in August and include several variants.
- The V8 should be used in the RAM 1500 truck and the Dodge Durango SUV.
The Hemi V8 may have disappeared from the Stellantis assembly lines, but several sources suggest that it is far from hell. Now, it has been reported that the production of the emblematic engine could resume in August 2025, this time by donating north to the Dundee engine plant in Michigan.

The production of HEMI V8 officially ended in the installation of Stellantis in Saltillo in Mexico, to the disarray of the loyalists of muscle cars. The former CEO of Stellantis, Carlos Tavares, has been widely credited (or blamed, depending on which you ask) to express the socket on the V8, despite a significant decline inside and outside the company.
But after the sudden departure of Tavares last year, Hemi’s fate seems a little less certain. The CEO of Dodge, Matt Mcalear, attracted the flames last month, suggesting that the history of the V8 may not be finished after all – claims now echo by new initiate reports.
V8 production can return to Michigan
Citing sources inside, Mopar initiates Note that Stellantis plans to restart the production of V8 in its Michigan factory in August. The renewal is not limited to the familiar variant of 5.7 liters either, because the HEMI family should include the Apache of 6.4 liters and the hellcat of 6.2 liters supercharged. The only Hemi V8 which will not be made at the Dundee engine plant is the 6.4 -liter Big gas engine (BGE) which currently feeds RAM 2500 and 3500 trucks.
These engines would have been condemned to the architecture of Gen 3 in Stellantis, although adjustments or minor improvements can appear along the way. Rumors also suggest that a larger movement version could enter the line range, keeping interesting things.
Could the V8 return to RAM and Durango?

Adding fuel to speculation, a disclosed document has surfaced earlier this month, referring to the return of Hemi in the RAM 1500 range, perhaps even by providing a very reinforced variant with.

The same leak points to the 5.7 -liter V8 continuing in the Dodge Durango R / T throughout the 2026 model year, before the SUV obtained a complete overhaul provided for 2027. Although the exact details remain under the Wraps, it is clear that the name Hemi always holds a weight in certain corners of the planning of Stellantis products.
Do not expect a charger powered by the hemi
Of course, all Stellantis models do not back down on the V8 train. Dodge fans hoping for a charger powered by hemi should temper expectations. Despite the buzz, the Stellantis engineers were quite frank: the new charger platform is not compatible with the old V8 without undergoing significant changes. In the current state of things, the new generation charger sticks to his six -cylinder hurricane and his entirely electric configurations.
