  • The SkyCamp mini-Tent climbs on R1T and R1, transforming the two into terrestrial machines.
  • The tent was created in partnership with Ikamper and includes a self-inflation mattress.
  • Rivian also offers a tent for two people of $ 2,800 and a $ 1,400 travel kitchen for adventurous owners.

Rivian has teamed up with the Ikamper campsite equipment to offer a new robust tent designed for the R1T truck and the SUV R1S. Since these two vehicles are made with drivers who love the adventure, it is logical that Rivian will offer such a product directly in their equipment store.

The tent, known as Skycamp Mini, weighs 137 pounds (61.8 kg) and was designed to be mounted on door or R1, or to sit on the bed of the R1T. Ikamper’s tent is housed in a shell and folds in position in a minute. According to the company, the aerodynamic design of the shell does not hinder the practice of the two Rivian models.

The other Rivian keys have blackened equipment and the Rivian brand. It is built using fabric without breathable pfas, sleeps 1 or 2 people and is suitable for use all year round, whatever the season. It also comes standard with a self-infranted mattress and transversal locking bar supports compatible with Rivian’s adventure keys.

The price

Here is where things become a little difficult. Ikamper already sells an almost identical version of the Skycamp Mini, just without the Rivian brand, for $ 3,895. But the Rivian brand version – because, apparently, the logo is more worth $ 4,595. Of course, some might think that it is worth the premium for the exclusive Flair Rivian, but for many, it is a pill that is difficult to swallow.

It is not the only roof tent that Rivian offers. Over the past two years, he sold a tent to two $ 2,800 people for R1s created in partnership with Yakima. However, unlike the Ikamper option, it has no shell case and a self-infranted mattress.

If you plan to transform your R1 into a full mobile base camp, you will also have to pay an additional $ 1,400 for the travel kitchen, which Rivian also sells. This configuration includes two cooking tables powered by a 1500W system which extends over an outlet of 120 V. It folds up for storage, and this is part of the expanding programming of adventure equipment.
