An original Chevrolet Chevette is not exactly what you would call a “dream car” for most enthusiasts, far from it, in fact. Unless, of course, that you are talking about it. What you look at is probably one of the most bizarre hair that exists, and she heads for an auction in Texas next month. If you’ve ever dreamed of an American manufacturing hyperhatch (and let’s face it, that hasn’t done it?), It is probably as close as possible.
The story of this chevette begins with a rather improbable source of performance: the whore headers, which initially built it in the United States and presented it in a 1982 issue of 1982 Hot Rod Magazine. At first, the car was equipped with a V6 engine of a Buick, but, as you can expect, it did not last. Before too long, the V6 was exchanged for a 350 -inch cubic V8, and the car found its way to the Dragsters bands in California, where it made its mark.

Quick advance to the present day, and this subcompact chevy is fueled by a 355-inch cubic (5.8 liter) V8, coupled with an automatic 4R 4-speed transmission with over-lullated, causing the rear wheels. Despite the relatively modest looks of the car, he has a serious punch, producing 447 hp and 457 lb-ft (620 nm) of torque on the wheels. There is no word on the speed with which this thing will reach 60 MPH (96 km / h), but we are almost sure that it is hilarious to drive.
The V8 engine has been strongly modified to eliminate all this power. It includes aluminum cylinder heads, Pistons I with ARP equipment, a new cams comp Cand cams, an Edelbrock intake manifold, a Holley CFM S&S 750 carburetor, new ignition coils and personalized headers. Several other important upgrades have been provided, including the assembly of adjustable coilvers and Wilwood brakes.
It looks like it just got out of 1982
Outside, painting is a return to daring and catchy conceptions of the 80s, with a dark gray basic coat accentuated with bright, yellow and orange stripes. Inside, the cabin continues the same theme, with a red leather and fabric padding, and a roller cage for more vibrations “I am seriously on this subject”.
And, of course, no self -respecting car of this time would be without decent audio system – this chest is equipped with a spare Kenwood audio configuration and new speakers.
If you’ve already thought of going to your local Cars & Coffee event in something that says: “I’m here to have fun”, this chest could be the car for you. For more details, go to Mecum auction here And prepare to make a statement.
