- IM Motors will make its debut in Australia because I am presented by MG with high performance electric vehicles.
- The brand is part of the SAIC group and offers 400 V, 800 V architectures and 900 V.
- Like other Chinese electric vehicles, there is no chance that these models come to the United States.
IM Motors is ready to enter the rapidly growing electric vehicle market in Australia, which, let’s face it, is already dominated by Chinese cars. However, the company makes a somewhat strange decision with its brand: vehicles will be marketed under the new named I am presented by MG Motor brand. We will let this name sink for a moment – yeah, it is not triggered exactly from the language. But despite the curious nickname, the company plans to introduce two intriguing models locally.
The IM5 and the IM6, which are already on sale in China under the names L6 and LS6, will be the vehicles occupying the front of the stage. There is no official explanation for the change of name in Australia, but what we know is that the two cars will be built in the right of the factory, thanks to a collaboration between Saic, Alibaba and Zhangjiang Hi-Tech.

At this point, I am presented by MG Motor– Yes, we always try to get used to this – has not provided many details on the Australian versions of these cars. However, it is sure to assume that they will probably be very similar to the models already available in China. The elegant IM5 will serve as a rival to the Tesla Model 3 and BMW i4, but is longer and wider than both, and was starting at around $ 70,000 in (around $ 44,200 at current exchange rates) while exceeding $ 95,000 in (~ $ 60,000).
In China, IME sells the sedan and the SUV with 400 V, 800 V and 900 V electric architectures and 75 kWh, 83 kWh and 100 kWh batteries. The entry-level rear drive models pompan 290 hp (216 kW) and 332 lb-pi (450 Nm), while the flagship versions produce a monstrous 776 hp (579 kW) and 590 LB-PI (800 Nm). The IM5 sedan can reach 100 km / h (62 MPH) in just 2.74 seconds, while the SUV needs 3.48 seconds.
Like so many other new electric vehicles out of China, the cabins of the two cars are very technology -oriented and are equipped with many plush materials. The main competitions include a large screen on the climate control console, a bit like what you find in a Taycan Porsche, then a single panoramic screen for the gauge cluster and the infotainment system.
There are also twin wireless phone chargers, cup holders and several accessories, including a wireless table and large load cushion that may contain devices or even reading lamps.
“We are delighted to present instant messaging by MG Motor on the Australian market, creating a new reference for luxury electric driving,” said MG Motor Australia, Peter Ciao To drive. “With advanced innovation wrapped in an elegant design, the IM5 and the IM6 offer a mixture without compromise of performance, refinement and range – offering drivers the freedom to go further in absolute comfort. It is the future of premium electrical mobility, and we are proud to bring it to Australia and further extend our EV offer to Australian drivers. ”
