  • New York legislators are trying to prevent Tesla from selling themselves directly to state buyers.
  • Tesla permits for sale could be offered to other EV companies, including Rivian.
  • The decision of the Democratic legislators is a response to the DOGE activities of the CEO Elon Musk.

Some owners of Tesla disgusted by the work of the CEO Elon Musk for the American government, sell their electric vehicles, and some drivers not tesla vandalize electric vehicles and the goods of the automaker to show their dissatisfaction. Now New York legislators plan their own attack on Musk by trying to remove Tesla’s right to sell state customers directly.

Democratic senators push to cancel the permits granted in 2014 which allow Tesla to sell directly to consumers. Like many other American states, New York normally prohibits direct sales, forcing manufacturers to sell through dealerships. Even other manufacturers of electric vehicles such as Lucid and Rivian, who sell directly in other states, are not allowed in New York.

The senator of the Pat Fahy state leads the accusation to tear Tesla’s right to operate in five places, but the five permits would not disappear completely. Instead, they could be offered to compete with brands, although some legislators and groups of concessionaires think that permits should be deleted because they give too much power to a small number of people.

A similar bill designed to put an end to the direct sales freedom of Tesla has been introduced into the state of Washington, and a bill offering sales limits to be increased for direct points of sale to consumers has stopped, reports Politico. And none of this is rooted in hatred for Tesla herself, but for the man at the head of the company.

Since President Trump returned to the White House, Musk concentrated his energy on the new government’s efficiency ministry (DOGE), whose federal cost reduction campaign has left thousands of unemployed people. He also caused indignation by trying to earn Doge employees access to sensitive tax information from millions of Americans.

And restricting Tesla sales is not the only way for legislators to hit musk in the pocket. FAHY – A defender of the VE – and other senators wrote to the New York State Controller Thomas Dinapoli, asking him to sell Tesla shares belonging to the New York State Pension Fund.
