  • The Nissan Xterra will return in the form of two fresh sema constructions for the 2025 show.
  • The two concepts focused on the road have the approval of Nissan and its Nismo division.
  • They combine parts of various newer Nissan models, improved with off -road equipment.

At a time when each car manufacturer is busy relaunching signage plates of heritage such as Bronco and Land Cruiser to exploit the growing demand for robust all-terrain, Nissan was significantly silent. In fact, the brand has treated everything, from financial headaches to fusion talks at neutral, while promising future reset of the range. But among the strangest omissions in its recent history? The disappearance of the Xterra since 2015.

More: could this Mystery Nissan SUV be the new Electric Xterra?

The good news is that Nissan’s long -term product roadmap includes a SUV with square looks for 2027 which could reproduce in a loose way where the Xterra focused off -road has stopped, even if it could not bear the same name. The bad news for purists is that it will be electric. But before it happens, fans get a little something to chew in the form of two speculative sema concepts that imagine what a traditional 2026 xterra 2026 could look like.

A return with a torsion

We first told you about the Nissan Project X Build a few months ago. It is a passion project imagined by Nick Raymond Scherr, a video creator and passionate about Nissan who works at Avondale Nissan in Arizona. When he does not help fans to get his hands on new Z without the marks of the concessionaire, he devoted his free time to a long -standing dream: a modern interpretation of the Xterra for 2026.

Although Nissan and Nismo are not directly involved in the design or development of the two constructions of the X project, they are aware of the project. After a teaser earlier this year, Carscoops obtained exclusive information and created sketch renderings from one of the concepts, offering a clearer overview of what will happen.

DNA of mixing and match

These XTERRA concepts are not simple restorations – they are complete mashups of Nissan’s all -terrain heritage. Donor parts include elements of the second generation of Xterra (2005-2015), the Pathfinder of the third generation (2005-2012) and the current border (2022-Print). The sketches show a Costaud SUV equipped with border style headlights, grille and rear lights for a more updated appearance. The main body takes after the Xterra, while the lateral proportions borrow clues from the old pathfinder.

True to the tradition of SEMA constructions, SUKs will be improved with roof supports, off-road bumpers, rails and tire carriers. The two studies will also present modernized interiors with the latest technologies, one having a configuration with two standard rows and the other a layout of three rows seats.

In Sema fashion, the two builds will include the expected kit: the bearers, off-road bumpers, rock cursors and swivel tire carriers. Inside, things get a modern overhaul with current technology and creature comfort. A version will be delivered with a traditional configuration with two rows, while the other will stretch to adapt to three lines.

Power, presence and a lot of grain

The two constructions will get on a chassis on a appropriate scale and will be equipped with 4 -wheel drive. Expect contemporary off-road technology and Nismo equipment sprinkled to make a good measure. As for what is under the hood, here is where things become interesting. A version will pack the 3.8 -liter V6 of Nissan, while the other will go completely with a rumbled V8, which should provide a lot of drama and presence.

Scherr, who is also known as “Nismo Nick”, will document the construction process on its Instagram page, where fans can follow as the project takes shape. And although these concepts may be built by fans, they have received the official support of Nissan North America and Nismo, lending additional legitimacy to all of this.

We will update this story because more details are revealed before the revelation of the SEMA later this year.
