  • Renault and Nissan have entered into an agreement, which aims to help the Japanese car manufacturer in difficulty.
  • Nissan can go back from their amps investment of $ 649 million and sell Renault shares.
  • The company will also obtain a restyled version of the Renault Twingo in 2026.

The Renault – Nissan – Mitsubishi alliance was put to the test and things seemed to be on trembling terrain. However, Renault and Nissan have now announced a series of “strategic projects”.

Starting with fun stuff, Nissan will get a version of the next Renault Twingo. It should arrive in 2026 and will have a unique style created by the Japanese car manufacturer.

We don’t know anything else about the model at this stage, but the Twingo will be launched next year and will cost less than € 20,000 ($ 21,639). The EV should also have a 7 -inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1 -inch infotainment system.

Apart from Europe, Renault should resume Renault Nissan Automotive India Private LTD by acquiring the participation of 51% currently held by Nissan. This transaction should be completed later this year and Renault considers this decision as a “key opportunity” to extend its international activities. Speaking of this, four new models should be built in the Chennai factory.

While Renault takes over, Nissan will continue to have a presence in India. As such, the Chennai factory will continue to build models such as the Nissan wave.

On the company side, Renault and Nissan have changed their alliance agreement to allow greater flexibility in cross -actions. In particular, the minimum participation threshold will be reduced from 15% to 10%. The change could allow Nissan to sell part of their Renault participation to collect funds for their restructuring.

Although it remains to be seen if Nissan will do, “any sale of shares should be carried out in a coordinated and ordered process with the other company, in which another company or a designated third party benefits from a right of first offer.”

Speaking of giving flexibility to Nissan, the company is freed from its commitment to invest in Ampère. The investment was announced in July 2023 and would have seen Nissan Fork up to € 600 ($ 649 / £ 502).

The modifications and termination of the Ampère investment are subject to certain conditions met, but these should occur by the end of May. When this happens, Nissan should be in better form for the future.

The CEO of Renault Group, Luca de Meo, pointed out: “As a long -standing partner of Nissan within the Alliance and as the main action, Renault Group has a strong interest in seeing Nissan Turnaround its performances as quickly as possible. Pragmatism and the company -focused mind plan have been at the heart of our discussions to identify the means to support the Renault commercial group. ”.
