If you have already fantasized to tear a track in a real racing car – one with real trophies in its background, Audi has something that might interest you. The brand is launching a new program that gives enthusiasts a chance to have real competition cars, restored and ready to drive. And they are not just any old leftover of the paddock; Audi launched things with two machines that once stood on catwalks.
Nicknamed the Audi Sport Racing Legends project, this new company is exactly what it looks like: the sale of old racing cars for everyday people. Well, maybe not just anyone with money at your fingertips, because Audi is selective on whom obtaining the keys to these cars. He launches the program with the sale of two notable cars. The most special is perhaps the 207 chassis of the R18 e-tron quattro. This exact car won the FIA 2012 Endurance World Championship in Spa-Francorchamps. It is not the same exact car that won Le Mans in 2012, but it is of the same type.
Legendary cars, ready for a second act
In addition, Audi sells an RS 5 DTM, Chassis 107, which won the 2015 DTM final in Hockenheim. Do not worry if these cars go to buyers in somewhat worn condition. “We rebuild these chassis with reconditioned parts of that moment in racing cars according to strict standards and with a high level of expertise,” explains Rolf Michl, Managing Director of Audi Sport GmbH. “In some cases, even the developers of this time are involved in current projects.

More than just sale of cars
So what does the full experience look like for buyers? According to Michl, it is more than a transaction – it is an entry into a rarefied group. “The Audi R18 E-Tron Quattro and the RS 5 DTM are two of the fastest racing cars that we have never built. Customers can expect not only extremely sought -after racing cars, but also an emotional fireworks demonstration.
This support is not only the lip service either. Audi plans to provide continuous assistance, even if the owners decide to bring their cars back to the track for non -competitive pleasure.
Before going to new houses, these cars will be presented at several events: in Germany from May 9 to 11, in France from July 3 to 6 and the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the United Kingdom from July 10 to 13. Sales should start later in the year.
