  • Ford plans to build between 600 and 1,400 examples of the Mustang flagship.
  • The Mustang GTD is powered by a supercharged V8 of 5.2 liters providing 815 hp.
  • The most extreme pony car to date has launched the Nurburgring in less than 7 minutes.

Ford caused a lot of controversy when he prohibited Ford GT owners from returning their vehicles during the first two years of ownership. Although such policies are not unusual among high -end brands like Porsche for exclusive and limited models, it was a surprising decision for a brand consumer like Ford. Despite this, the policy has been reintroduced for the special Mustang GTD.

The news of the policy applied to the GTD Mustang appeared at the end of last week and was quickly confirmed by Ford. Like the GT, these lucky owners of the Mustang GTD must “accept confidential terms and conditions which include a commitment to maintain the property of two years”.

Ford Authority notes that this will prevent the owners from taking their vehicles delivery, then returning them immediately for a profit. Interestingly, Ford did not precisely say the number of examples he intends to build, saying before only that he planned to sell between 300 and 700 cars in each of the two years of GTD production. This means that there will be between 600 and 1,400 units built. The highest of these two figures seems more likely.

High demand, high price

Last year, it was revealed that more than 7,500 people in the United States and Canada had expressed their interest in the special Mustang GTD, even if it has a starting price of around $ 325,000. This also makes it about $ 80,000 more expensive than the current Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

So what are buyers get for their money? To begin with, the Ford Mustang GTD has a supercharged V8 of 5.2 liters, offering an impressive 815 hp and 664 lb-ft (900 nm) of torque, which makes it the most powerful factory mustang of all of all Times. It also includes an inner rear suspension derived from the race, advanced semi-active shock absorbers and remarkable aerodynamic packaging which played a key role in the definition of a time on the turn of less than 7 minutes around the Nordschleife of Nurburgring.
