- Byd received more than 4,700 complaints in one week on a prominent automotive quality platform in China.
- Complaints follow the brand’s decision to put the system of God’s eyes at the disposal of 21 models.
- Those who bought its products before the announcement now require compensation.
Earlier this month, Chinese car manufacturer BYD announced that its “God’s Eye” driver assistance package would become standard on 21 models on all price slices. Although this is excellent news for future buyers, existing owners do not celebrate exactly. Instead, they flooded online forums with complaints about too much paid for their cars.
A significant number of owners of byd expressed their frustration on 12365auto.com, a Chinese third-party platform focused on automotive quality. The backlash was strong enough to push the models of the Ocean and Dynasty series by Byd in the top 10 of the most comprehensive vehicles on the site.

As Reuters reported, more than 4,700 complaints were filed against the Chinese brand between February 11 and 17, following its announcement for improved ADAS. By way of comparison, the owners had only filed 150 complaints the previous week.
An unhappy owner of a byd Qin L DM-I sedan stressed that the company had reduced prices and added features only after buying their car, which prompted them to require compensation.
Another buyer, who had recently bought a Seal 06 DM -I, was frustrated to note that a more recent version with notable upgrades had been published at the same price – despite having “repeatedly” asked the seller if an update was imminent.

According to the platform, Byd recognized the complaints, declaring that they had been transmitted to the appropriate departments.
All “God’s Eye” systems are not created equal
The 21 BYD models receiving the Standard “God’s Eye” ADAS packaging cover a price range of ¥ 69,800 at ¥ 239,800 (approximately $ 9,600 to $ 33,100 at current exchange rates). The most affordable group is the electric sedan byd Seagull.

However, it should be noted that the system of God’s eyes has three different versions – A, B and C – which do not offer the same level of sophistication. The basic C will find its way in cheaper byd models, the middle of the Spec B will equip the offers of the derza and Fang Cheng Bao brands, while the headlight A is reserved for Yangwang.
Byd is not the only car manufacturer to have been the target of complaints concerning the current price war in China, which is much more important compared to other countries due to fierce competition on the largest world car market . In 2023, hundreds of owners of Tesla met with local dealerships to request discounts and credits after the company reduced the prices of its models.
