- President Donald Trump has several federal loans in his reticle while he reduces expenses.
- The expected Rivian factory will have the capacity to produce up to 400,000 electric vehicles each year.
- Rivian plans to start production on the site of nine million square feet in 2028.
In the last days of the Biden administration, the government approved a huge loan of $ 6.6 billion to the startup EV Rivian for the construction of its manufacturing plant for a long time in Georgia. However, while President Donald Trump continues to reduce federal spending, the viability of the loan is threatened.
Rivian has major projects in Georgia. Its planned production plant will appear about nine million square feet and will have a capacity of up to 400,000 crossings and electricities each year. It will also employ up to 2,000 people during construction and up to 7,500 when they are operational. However, during a recent interview, the governor of Georgia Brian Kemp admitted that he was not sure of the future of the federal loan.

“You know, they got this loan at the end of the Biden administration and, you know, I think there is no secret that the Trump administration takes a look at all these things,” said Kemp WSB-TV 2. “So I don’t really know where it is right now.
Rivian plans to start relying on the loan next year and remains confident that the money will always be available for this. “We are working hard for American manufacturing on land, offering thousands of American jobs here in Georgia,” said the firm. If the loan is drawn, he “threatens chaos”, according to the Democratic Senator of Georgia, Jon Ossoff.

Despite the concerns, Kemp added that the state always wanted to help Rivian with the factory and will ensure that taxpayers are protected. “We have obtained parameters and if it is the incentives, the side itself to protect taxpayers, no matter what happens on this side,” he said. “Rivian continues to tell us that they arrive and, you know, we take them for their word.”
Rivian has already started to hire for the site and wants to start production in 2028. On all the R1 and R1T, it sells.
