  • Ford plans to team up with the Australian company Triple Eight for special editions of its road cars.
  • Such collaboration could cause reinforced versions of the Mustang and the Pick-up Ranger.
  • Triple Eight is the official Ford approval team for the 2026 Supercars championship season.

The Ford Performance division gave us excellent cars, but that does not mean that the company is not open to future collaborations. A potential partner that is currently being studied is the team of Australian Engineering and Racing Triple Eight.

Triple Eight recently announced a Passage from GM to Ford for Australian Supercars, which means that they will run the mustangs of the season of the 2026 Supercars Championship. The Brisbane -based company is not unrelated to Ford because they were running from the Falcon sedans between 2003 and 2009, before going to Holden.

What is more interesting is that the new team could cause special road car editions such as The Mustang and The Ranger for the Australian market. In an interview with Speedcafe, CEO of Ford Australia, Andrew Birkic, was questioned about a possible collaboration with Triple Eight outside the race world:

“They are above all an engineering company which is a very good race team, so there is no reason. What it looks like not to know, but we certainly have an open mind. »»

The boss of Ford Australia noted that their collaboration with Walkinshaw Andretti United is about to end, leaving an opportunity window for Triple Eight to take his place: “We did Finke and Walkinshaw Andretti United helped us in some regions. Obviously, they move to another camp, so we see opportunities for Triple Eight ”.

Triple Eight has already entered the automotive adjustment company by offering a spare contribution for the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 series in collaboration with the local brand Just Autos.

The new projects could include a more powerful version of the Mustang inspired by the race model, or a reinforced version of the Ranger which remains one of the most popular models below. The local range of Ford also includes the Mustang Mach-E electric crossing, the SUV of the Everest scale and some van, but it is very unlikely that it is a base for the three-time specials.

Previous limited editions of the Ford models created with the help of partner race teams in Australia include a ranger with all-terrain bits from Walkinshaw, reinforced Mustangs and Tickford Rangers, and another Mustang Sportive by Dick Johnson and Rob Herrod.
