Volkswagen has introduced a range of improvements for the great California, its largest motorhome, designed to make it even more attractive for camping lovers. This refreshed version of the flagship model of the California family has improved screens, better connectivity and new driving assistance features among other changes.

Originally launched in 2019, the great California is based on the VW Crafter LCV. For the year of the 2025 model, the most notable update is the new independent infotainment display. Available in sizes of 10.4 inch or 12.9 inches, this screen is delivered with Apple Carplay and Android Auto Compatibility, which allows users to stay more easily connected on the road.

As for the crafter in 2024, the great California also offers a group of digital instruments and the option for a voice assistant, which includes the integration of chatgpt. Other updates include an electronic handbrake with an automatic support function, a redesigned gear lever and improved utility. The VW Grand California continues to use the Familin 2.0 liters TDI four -cylinder Turbodiesel, which was upgraded to meet the latest Euro VI HD emission standards. The engine produces 161 hp (120 kW / 163 PS) and 410 Nm (302 LB-PI) of torque. Depending on the finish level, the power supply is sent to the front or four -wheeled wheels (4motion), with an eight -speed automatic gearbox.

Price and availability

The Grand California updated is already available for order. In the United Kingdom, the large California 600 begins at £ 84,046 ($ 108,800), while the large California 680 is at the price of £ 86,800 ($ 112,300). Buyers also receive a five -year warranty and road assistance.
