  • The auction house expected the car to sell between $ 60,000 and $ 80,000.
  • As a rule, only the rare Honda S2000 CR models are sold in North America.

The expression “they don’t do them as they did” is a lot of launched in the world of the car – sometimes unjustly, sometimes seeing. Regarding really great and consecutive sports cars, however, it is often true. Yes, there are still large affordable sports cars on the market, such as the Toyota GR86 and Mazda MX-5, but for some, they are too high and simply do not capture this raw and old-fashioned charm.

This is where JDM legend as the Honda S2000 takes on its full meaning. While many Honda’s most memorable performance machines have been hot front wheel listening, the S2000 was a rear traction roadster that made the world talk. The production ended over 15 years ago and yet the demand for S2000 virgins remains strong. In fact, one was recently sold for an $ 95,000 eyebrow increase.

Broad Arrow Auctions managed the sale of this Honda S2000 2000MY, which makes it one of the most expensive non -Cr models ever sold during a public auction. The main reason for its almost six -digit price is its incredibly low mileage, just 42 miles (67 km). This probably makes it one of the lowest examples of a thousand-mile that exists in the United States.

Since it has barely been motivated in the past 25 years, it is not surprising that it looks as good now as when it would have left the factory. Finished at Metal Silverstone with a black interior, it sports a combo of colors which was a popular (if not particularly daring) choice when these cars were new.

Originally delivered through Drum Honda in New York, the car belonged for the first time to a woman who already had a red S2000 as a daily driver – because we were simply not enough. This particular example has remained intact, seeming to be tightly sealed for two and a half decades. The auction house had estimated a final price between $ 60,000 and $ 80,000, but bidders had other ideas.

Obviously, someone was very impatient to get their hands on it and was ready to pay a bonus to do it. We have no idea what the new owner plans to do with his mint S2K, but I hope they will actually be ready to drive and take advantage of the thing rather than to make a garage queen and to wait for him to appreciate even more and sell it in the future for a profit.
