  • The whim retains its original 5.0 liter V8 with 170 hp and 255 lb-ft of torque.
  • The personalized shop of George Barris gave him a gold and cream painting work with graphics.
  • Inside, it has black and golden velvet seats with swivel functionality.

Most of the Chevrolet whims of the 1990s mix in the background in the history of the automobile as a beige sofa in a thrift store. But this one? It is far from ordinary. A unique creation and personalized by the legendary designer of American cars George Barris – the same man behind the emblematic Batmobile of 1966 – This caprice is anything but Fade. And, in May, he will go to the auction block.

This unique chevy, nicknamed the “Nomade” What “is inspired by the 1957 Chevrolet Nomad, mixing some of the elements of the classic wagon with Caprice 1991. Yes, it looks like a strange combo. But in one way or another, it works a little. It is a bizarre mixture of two distinct car eras that come together very well.

Most of the front body is typical of a whim of that time, but it is the back where things take a tour. Inspired by the Nomad wagon, the side windows have been exchanged and rear tail fins were added for this classic flair from the 1950s. And, just like the original nomad, this whim offers rear lights adapted to ERA and a chrome bumper to complete the vintage atmosphere.

George Barris’s company then painted the outside in a combination of gold and cream, with complex airbrush graphics. It also rolls on a set of tickets.

As wild as the outside is, the interior of this chevy is just as unconventional. The seats, the door panels, the pillars and the headliner are all wrapped in a black and gold velvet. For convenience (and perhaps a little of the flair of the 1970s), the two front seats can rotate, which makes it a little easier to slip and out. And let’s not forget the generous storage space on the back.

As for what is under the hood, the car always has the 5.0 -liter V8 engine of original. At the time, this powertrain was good for around 170 horsepower and 255 LB-Pi (346 Nm) of couple, which was decent for a car of its time.

This unique whim will pass under the hammer of the Indy 2025 event of the Mecum auction hammer on May 15. If you are interested, you can consult the list here To find out more.
