Australia’s automotive industry may have collapsed a few years ago, but once, the Land Down Under has produced incredible performance cars, as only Americans could match. The Holden Commodore and Ford Falcon were the country’s favorites of the country for decades, and although production has long ceased, their appeal seems to have only increased.
What you look at is a 1978 Ford Falcon Falcon Cobra 302, and it is one of the best Australian muscular cars of that time. He lived most of his life in Australia, but in 2003, he was imported into the United States and currently resides in Granite Falls, Washington.

Ford has never built 400 examples of the XC Cobra and everyone is numbered individually. This is # 349. The Blue Oval was inspired to create this special edition falcon when the famous local race pilots Allan Moffat and Colin Bond finished first and second at the Bathurst 1000 1977 endurance race. The XC Cobra marked the end of an era for two doors, each model finished in the same white Sno and accentuated with audacious blue. It is a look that is difficult to forget.

Under the hood
Of the 400 XC Cobras, 200 were equipped with the 5.8 -liter Cleveland V8 351, producing 217 hp, while the other 200 received the smallest Cleveland of 4.9 liters, each available in automatic and manual transmission options.
The example for sale on Bring a Trailer includes 302 V8, with a four-barred carburetor Edelbrock, an interpreter intake manifold, a spare camshaft and new exhaust headers. When he left the mounting chain for the first time, he produced a modest 202 hp (151 kW) and 268 LB-PI (364 nm) of torque. Although these figures are far from today’s performance standards, there is nothing like having a V8 beating under your right foot which is waiting to be unleashed.
A look at the car counter reveals that it has about 121,000 km (around 75,000 miles) on the clock, but you would never guess just looking at it. The exterior is virgin, the cabin seems brilliant and the black and blue fabric adorning the seats seems excellent.
If a Ford Falcon on two catchy doors like this tickles your fantasy, head to bring a trailer to consult the list here. But not to do – it remains less than an auction day, and for the moment, the highest offer is at $ 45,500.
