- A YouTuber has highlighted deadly defects in pilot assistance systems based on Tesla’s camera.
- Mark Rover has carried out several tests with a Y model and a Lexus RX, equipped with Lidar.
- In the final comparison, the two cars rush to a false theater style road bottom.
Tesla’s refusal to provide her Lidar sensor cars is deeply controversial, some technological experts saying that business dependence on cameras makes her cars less safe than her competitors. Now a youtuber has put this claim to the test with hilarious – and terrifying – results -.
Mark Rober has made a series of experiences to compare how his own model Y Tesla and a Lexus RX, equipped with Lidar, modified by Luminar Fare when presented with different dangers in which the consequence of the error is bringing down a child size model.

In the first test, the model is simply standing on the road, and the Lexus spots it without problem at 40 MPH (64 km / h). The Tesla, however, enters directly into the false child when it is based solely on its automatic emergency braking system, but stops over time when the test is rewritten with the automatic pilot engaged.
Then, the two cars have to face the model running behind a parked car, and they both pass. The Tesla did not marked so well when the child was dark by the fog and the rain in the following two tests, but perhaps above all, he avoided a collision in front of blinding lights which simulated a low sunset.

Then came the final, and unlike other tests, it is not representative at a distance from something that could happen to you in the street unless you live in a Roadrunner cartoon from the 1960s. The two SUVs are driven directly on a giant foam brick wall which was painted to look like what is really behind. Think of the type of decor that Hollywood made before everything was done with CGI.
With the help of its Lidar sensors, the Lexus stops easily because its sensors do not see what is on the wall, only that there is a wall. And the Tesla? I am sure that I will not spoil the surprise when I tell you that the model exploded there through these foam blocks as it featured in a television show with low rise, and demolished the model that was standing behind.
We have started this video to start the car test section, but you may want to watch everything if you’ve already set up Disney’s Space Mountain and you have wondered how much dark driving is really presented. With the help of a portable Lidar technology hidden under his jacket, Rober maps the ride and then printed it in 3D.
