  • Hyundai recalled 1,508 Ioniq 5 Ns and some owners report major problems after the software update.
  • Some drivers have said that EV performance is accelerating in itself under certain conditions.
  • In addition, the engine increased and the transmission sound are quieter than in the past.

Of all the things that the Hyundai Ioniq 5 n excels, going quickly is definitely at the top of the list. But, of course, go fast when you don’t want to be a problem – and a big security problem. Unfortunately, this is exactly what the owners of Ioniq 5 N. curiously, this problem only seems to have succeeded after these same owners have taken their cars for a different solution.

This initial problem had to do with the braking of the left foot. Carscoops covered the situation when the news broke it last week, but in short, the use of the braking mode of the left foot in EV performance could cause depressurization of the ABS system. Consequently, Hyundai recalled 1,508 units of the 5 ns ioniq.

Now, some owners report that after the recall, they have two new problems concerning. First of all, and the most alarming, the car has unintentionally accelerates. A user on IONIQFORUM explained this way: “The car continues to accelerate in N-SHIFT mode after leaving the accelerator lighting, which is extremely dangerous.” They also linked to two different videos, including images of what they describe.

In the videos that were shared on Reddit, the owners accelerate briefly, then release the pedal, but the car continues to speed up. Although it is difficult to identify all the details of the images, the situation does not seem or does not sound well. Here is an example:

In particular, some owners already report the problem to the NHTSA and, sometimes, send an email to Hyundai on this subject. However, this is not the only problem they face. Some say that the increased offset is much more fluid now than in the past. Others say that the car is quieter as a whole. It could normally be a good thing but not here. The owners liked the sound effects and the aggressive sensation of simulated speed changes. Hopefully these changes are not permanent.
